Rules & Regulations

1. LIABILITY
The Committee shall not be liable for any loss or damage to any exhibits or any other property brought into the exhibition hall except where such loss or damage is caused by the negligence of the said committee.

2. ENTRIES
a) All classes are only open to people who live or work in Walkley.
b) The classes in this schedule are open to all providing they abide by these rules and regulations.
c) All entry forms must reach us no later than Friday 25th August
d) An entry fee of 20p per exhibit will be charged for all classes.
e) All JUNIOR exhibitors (up to and including 16yrs) must state their age on the entry form.
f) All exhibits must be brought to St. Mary’s Community Hall between 5pm and 7pm on Friday1st September for display.

3. EXHIBITS
a) All flowers, plants, fruit & vegetables must have been grown by the exhibitor.
b) All exhibits and parts of exhibits must be arranged on the show site.
c) All exhibits in other classes must be the exhibitor’s own work.
d) No exhibits shall bear any label or other form of identification.
e) All exhibitors in flower categories must provide their own vases.
Cakes and Confectionery
Exhibitors are requested to supply their exhibits on a paper plate all wrapped in cling film. The stewards will remove the cling and attach labels as necessary.

4. JUDGING
a) Judging will take place on Saturday morning of 2nd. September

5 OPENING
a) Doors will open on Saturday 2nd September at 10.00am
b) Presentation of awards will be at 11.00am

6 CLOSURE
a) The horticultural show will close at 2.00pm on Saturday 2nd September 2017.
b) All exhibits must be removed after 1.30pm and before 2.00pm on the above date.

SECTION 1 – ROSES
One specimen bloom – any variety (in own vase)
If possible please name the variety

SECTION 2 – SWEET PEAS
Three stems in own vase – if possible please name the variety

SECTION 3 -ANY FLOWER VARIETY
a) Small stem flowers smaller than 5cm – 5 stems in own vase – if possible please name variety
1) All same variety
2) Different varieties

b) Larger stem flowers larger than 5cm – 3 stems in own vase – if possible please name the variety
1) All same variety
2) Different varieties

SECTION 4 -SMALL FLOWER ARRANGEMENT
A table decoration with base no larger than 5inches.

SECTION 5 – VEGETABLES – If possible please name the variety.
a) French Beans. One plate of six pods, same variety
b) Runner Beans. One plate of 6 pods, same variety
c) Any beans. One plate of 6 pods, same variety
d) Beetroot. One plate of three globes, tops trimmed to 3”
e) Courgettes. One plate of two, same variety
f) Carrots. One plate of three, tops trimmed to 3”
g) Marrow. One plate with one not to exceed 15”
h) Potatoes . One plate of three same variety
i) Potatoes. One plate of three various variety
j) Peas. One plate with 6 pods
k) Tomatoes. One plate of three same variety – calyx to be intact
l) Tomatoes. One plate of three various variety – calyx to be intact
m) Shallots. One plate of 5
n) Onions. One plate of 3
o) Chilli’s. One plate of 5
p) Cucumber.

SECTION 6 – FRUIT
a) Any soft fruit
b) 3 plums
c) 3 pears
d) 3 apples

SECTION 7 – EGGS
Three of one variety

SECTION 8 – CAKES & BREAD
a) Victoria Sponge sandwich with no decoration (supply own stand)
b) One slab of parkin
c) One fruit loaf
d) shortbread
e) One loaf of bread, any kind

SECTION 9 – JAMS/MARMALADE/CHUTNEY
a) One jar of homemade jam, any fruit
b) One jar of homemade marmalade, any kind
c) One jar of homemade chutney, any kind

SECTION 10 – NOVELTY SECTION
a) The longest bean
b) The wonkiest carrot
c) The longest marrow.

SECTION 11 – JUNIOR SECTION
All juniors can enter any of the above categories .
Junior section will be divided into two sections – age 10 and under and 11yrs – 16yrs.
A miniature garden to be staged in a standard sized seed tray approx. 14” x 8”
One plate of four biscuits.
